August update

Repairs in Douglas Avenue road surface:
After several days of on, off and on again news from Devon County Council (DCC) about road repairs to Douglas Avenue, Cllr Christine Channon has been able to confirm the following:
DCC have decided that they will go ahead between 24-28th August and carry out the repairs to Douglas Avenue.  They do not  consider it fair to delay them any longer.  We are also mindful of the fact that if Wales and the West dig up the road they are  required to repair any holes to an acceptable standard.
Redevelopment of Eastern end of Deaf Academy site:
You will be aware that the eastern end of The Deaf Academy site has been sold to Acorn Property Group in Exeter.  On Thursday 6th August, Ed Lewis, from Acorn, invited a group from the TARA Committee to join him to view the site from outside the boundary walls and he explained their proposed development.
Update on plans for TARA AGM 2020:
These plans remain tentative since, as we all know, the Government tend to ‘move the goal posts’ from day to day.  As of today, the date for 2020 TARA AGM is Monday 26th October between 3pm and 5pm.  As in recent years this will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Rolle Road but, due to Covid 19 restrictions, only 40 TARA Members (plus TARA Committee & Church officials = max of 50 people) will be able to attend this year.  Further details will be distributed in a few weeks time but, for now, we just wanted to let you know the date.  Unfortunately, again due to restrictions, we will be unable to provide you with a teatime gathering before the meeting and all attendees will have to abide by rules regarding Face Coverings, Social Distancing etc.
