Simon Davidson, Chair
Simon Davidson joined the TARA Committee in 2018 having become a resident of Douglas Avenue the previous year. He has keen interests in gardening and a variety of leisure activities. His current main area of focus with TARA is bringing to the attention of Councillors and EDDC the condition of roads in the Avenues and improving management of traffic volumes and speeds.
Sara Arthur, Minutes Secretary
Having moved to Exmouth in 2014, Sara seized the opportunity to join TARA as she is interested in the heritage and quality of life that comes with living in The Avenues. Previously, during her working life as a Deputy Head in a large all-girls comprehensive in Twickenham, she had responsibility for buildings and maintenance overseeing several building projects. Sara was also the Chair and Secretary of her local Residents Association in Surrey. With skills gained from these experiences Sara then felt able to offer to join the TARA committee and support the work undertaken to maintain the ethos of The Avenues.
Peter Dobbs, Treasurer
Peter has resided in The Avenues since 2010, having been a former Parish Councillor in Binfield, Bracknell, Berkshire. He has served as Chairman of Scarsdale Flats Management Co. Ltd. since 2013 and a committee member of TARA (The Avenues Residents Association) since 2015.
Elizabeth Deasy, Membership Secretary
Retired in May 2018, after working for many years in general management in the NHS. Elizabeth has lived in the Avenues for 30 years and seen the town of Exmouth and the Avenues develop.
Deirdre Jennings, Former Chair
Deirdre Jennings and her husband, Ben have lived in the Avenues since 1982 both attended Exmouth Grammar School. She joined SAD in 2009 and in 2010 joined the committee, becoming minute secretary from 2014, vice-chairman in 2016 and has been chair since September 2017.
Over the years, Deirdre has learnt a lot about the planning process; the issues concerning fellow residents; liaised with local councillors, staff of East Devon District Council and developers; and met many interesting and knowledgeable people.
TARA has had considerable impact locally especially with the adoption of the Design Statement and input to the Neighbourhood Plan. She continues to gain personally from her membership of TARA in knowledge and from the social interactions it has provided.
