Devoncourt Hotel: Appeal by the owners against refusal of Planning Permission
Many of you will already be aware that this Appeal was lodged recently; it will be heard by the Planning Inspector on April 23rd most likely at the EDDC Offices in Honiton.
The Appeal Reference, which must be quoted in any correspondence, is:
APP/U1105/W/24/3355976
Documents relating to the original Application and to the Owners Appeal can be found on the EDDC Planning Portal ( via www.eastdevon.gov.uk). You can search for them using Devoncourt Hotel, Exmouth in the Search field. It is worth reading the latest documents as they give an idea of the basis for the Appeal but also reveal inaccuracies in what the Appellants are claiming by way of challenge against the Refusal. Please note as well that there were only two grounds upon which the Application was refused and only arguments against or in favour of these will be considered by the Inspector.
TARA encourage you to register your comments. Although all original documents and comments have been sent to the Inspector for consideration, it is worth contacting the Inspector in writing, quoting the Appeal Reference above, and saying that you continue to object to the proposed redevelopment of the Devoncourt. You have until March 18th to register comments and these must be emailed to the Inspector at:
https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk
People who do not have access to email can register their comments by post to: The Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
When making comments there is no need to go into detail or to repeat any earlier submission that you may have made during the Planning process. However, it may be worth including two or three bullet points that you feel add weight to the reasons why the Refusal should be upheld. Things that will be considered by the Inspector will include:
- Impact upon surrounding areas including Overshadowing / Loss of Privacy, Character of the area, Noise and air pollution;
- Environmental impact including impact upon green spaces;
- Community impact: they take into account feedback from residents and community groups;
- Design and appearance: aesthetics and quality of integration into the existing surroundings.
